Our Club's Philanthropic Efforts
Our club uses a portion of member dues (and special donations) and our annual silent auction proceeds to support Pi Beta Phi's philanthropies as well as local charitable organizations.

In 2016-2017, Portland Metro was selected as one of the five locations to help Pi Beta Phi Fraternity host a 2017 Fraternity Day of Service Signature Event. Chanel LaChappa Sheragy, California Iota, and Maja Tanaka Berge, Oregon Alpha, co-chaired the event at which 20,000 new books were given to local Title I teachers and leaders in organizations that serve kids in need.
Members from both Lake Oswego-Dunthorpe Alumnae Club and Portland Alumnae Club plus Oregon Gamma and Oregon Alpha collegians worked on this event together and in conjunction with Pi Beta Phi Headquarters staff and other Fraternity officers.
Approximately 125 volunteers worked on the event over the two-day period of setting up (3-8 p.m. on Friday) and giving away the books (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday). We had nearly 110 groups pick up books for the children that they serve. It was an amazing event!
