OREGON GAMMA IS CLOSING ITS DOORS:
Sadly, Oregon Gamma at Willamette University in Salem will close on June 30, 2021. Our club paid for a dinner for the members in May before their academic year came to a close. Due to Covid-19 they had to have a small dinner and socially distance so no alumnae were able to join them.

MEMBERS IN NEW LEADERSHIP POSITIONS:
Member Marie Baldazo Andreasen is joining the Collegiate Region 8 team as a Membership Specialist. She had served as Oregon Alpha's AAC Chairman for about five years. That position will be filled by member Gillian Tobin.

PI BETA PHI INTERNATIONAL "EXCELLENCE" AWARDS WERE ANNOUNCED:
It was just announced that Lake Oswego-Dunthorpe received the Overall "Excellence in Membership and Recruitment Award" for small club. This is the first time we have won this award. At the convention in St. Louis, we also won the 2nd Runner Up award for small club. See the Awards webpage for the other awards that were won this year. WE WON SEVERAL ALUMNAE REGION FIVE AWARDS:

WE ARE IN THE WINTER ARROW TWICE (click here):
Our club was mentioned on Page 17 plus a VERY NICE article about long-time club member and former Club President Missy Gerber was printed on Pages 29-30.  Missy's article focused on how she was helped by an Emma Harper Turner grant from Pi Beta Phi Foundation after she had a serious accident ... and how she gave back.  She is a true angel!

TWO MEMBERS HAVE PUBLISHED ROMANCE NOVELS:
New club member Layne Gray, Oregon Alpha, wrote a romance novel called "Crushed" and it was a featured book in the last issue of The Arrow. Diamond Arrow Patty Bouchard Sprigg, California Alpha, published "Bel Air," a romance novel set in the WWII era under her initiated name Patricia Bouchard.

EXCITING NEWS - 2017 FRATERNITY DAY OF SERVICE:
Portland Metro was one of five cities selected for a special event called Fraternity Day of Service Signature Event. Click here to read about it on the Pi Beta Phi website.

Chanel LaChappa Sheragy, California Iota, and Maja Tanaka Berge, Oregon Alpha, are co-chairing the local event. They will be contacting Oregon Alpha and Oregon Gamma collegians AND YOU! The event will be held in late February 2017 in the Portland Metro area and LOTS of volunteers will be needed.

PI BETA PHI INTERNATIONAL AWARDS WERE ANNOUNCED:
Lake Oswego-Dunthorpe received "Club of Excellence" award for the 10th year in a row as well as the Alumnae Region Five "Excellence in Communication" award.

Oregon Alpha received an award for "#1 Grades on Campus" and Oregon Gamma received the top collegiate award for "Excellence in Communications." Congrats to all!

THREE CLUB MEMBERS ARE INTERNATIONAL OFFICERS:
Carolyn Much Reil (Oregon Gamma 2007) was recently appointed as Collegiate Region Seven (CR7) Membership Specialist. She joins Lauren Jenkins Smith (Oregon Gamma 2001) who has served as CR7 Risk Management/Policy Specialist since 2014.

Alison Burcham (Oregon Beta 1999) is continuing in her position as Programming Specialist for Alumnae Region Five. We are so proud of our young alums who give their time and talents to serve as international officers of the Fraternity!

EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNERS AT U OF O:
On June 5, 2016, University of Oregon's Division of Student Life presented club member Marie Baldazo Andreasen (California Eta 1990) with the Outstanding Chapter Advisor award. This was the second time Marie has received the award since becoming Oregon Alpha's AAC Chairman.

Pi Beta Phi was named Chapter of the Year and also received an award for Outstanding Philanthropy. Oregon Alpha Alysia Kezerian was given the Alysia Kezerian Sorority Woman of the Year award. The award was renamed this year in her honor. Alysia was the student speaker at the 2016 UO graduation ceremony.

WE WILL GET 500 BOOKS TO DONATE TO KIDS:
Alumnae Regional Programming Specialist Alison Burcham announced that our club will receive 500 books for us to donate to children for Fraternity Day of Service. A big thank you to member Heather Butler Skogen for applying for the grant.
